The characters of the Animation 3 series have been bugging us for months to go to Walt Disney World... who are we to say no? So we gathered them up and took them around the parks for the day.

Animation 3 Clown Dumbo and Timothy 9/Jr. LE Combo

This one, like a stork delivering a baby, seemed to come out of nowhere. And there are some interesting release details here. This is a 9" Clown Dumbo and Jr. Timothy combo for the Animation 3 series designed by Monty Maldovan. Here is the fun part... its a limited edition of only 250 pieces! AND, costs a whopping $99.95!

 If I'm being honest, I don't know if this needs a 9" platform. There is a lot of grey empty space and something aesthetically to me just doesn't look quite right.

The junior Timothy makes sense size wise to pair with a 9" Dumbo and he is designed really well.

This seems to be one of those rare times that Disney is pairing up a price with an edition size. We know that the Mickey Circus Lion and Seal last year were LE 100 with an inflated $150 price tag to reflect the rarity of them. Now, Disney does it again by charging a considerable amount more for a low LE. Now, we know they don't always do this, as some LE 500 figures didn't see a price increase. And we also know that even figures with an inflated edition size can get a very high price tag. Let's look at a recent comparable, Jabba and Salacious 9/Jr. It is LE 1000 with a $60 price tag. That was the same price as the Villains 9/Jr combos a few years back, so that has stayed, while still high in my opinion, consistent. But then you have Han Solo in Carbonite as an LE 2000 and costs $35! That's $10 above most double 3 inch combos.

I have stopped trying to understand Disney merchandise a long time ago. I never knew that all this asking Disney to give us lower edition sizes would increase the price tags! They just don't get it. At $100, I think this will sit on the shelves for quite some time. At $60 with an LE 250, it would sell out. What do you think?

	Basil of Baker Street The Great Mouse Detective (1986) Mike Sullivan A great addition to the Animation lineup and a perfect facial expression.
	Ludwig von Drake An Adventure in Color (1961) Thomas Scott I've been waiting for this guy to show up! I am constantly amazed at how the artists can make different Vinylmation look like different periods of animation.
	Stitch Lilo and Stitch (2002) Ron Cohee This is why Ron Cohee is the best character artist Vinylmation has right now. He innovates. He is not afraid to put it all out there. Not only the best vinyl Stitch, but the only one that truly looks like him to date.
	Ace of Clubs Alice in Wonderland (1951) Thomas Scott Maybe a holdover from the Alice set? Wonderful artwork and the brush accessory works so very well.
	Pascal  Tangled (2010) Monty Maldovan Rapunzel never went on any adventure without her chameleon friend. This would make a great variant!
	Panchito Pistoles  Three Caballeros (1944) Casey Jones Jose last time... Donald in A4?
	Mowgli  The Jungle Book (1967) Casey Jones I like the continuation of characters from the same movie. We got Baloo last time. King Louis would be a great one for A4. Love the art on the ears!

	Tod and Copper LE Combo  The Fox and the Hound (1981) Release Date: May 10, 2013 Nice art style with these. Love the leaves in the ears.

Animation 3 Combos Release Dates

Today Disney revealed some information about two of the Animation 3 LE sets.

First, The Fox and The Hound will be at D-Streets and online on May 10, 2013. There will be a LE of 2,500 and each pack will go for $26.95.

I like the tail on the fox a lot. The side of Copper is great, showing long ears on the arms. Good job Monty Maldovan.

Next up are the Stabbington Brothers from Tangled. The will be released a fortnight later on May 24, 2013 at D-Streets and online. There will only be 1,000 of these bad boys, so catch them while you can.

The artist is Thomas Scott and they will cost you $26.95 for the set. These guys are some rough looking dudes and they come with knives, which is interesting for a Vinylmation.

So, what do you think Disney was thinking with these when they made the Brothers an LE of 1000 and the Fox and Hound an LE of 2500? Is it just that people probably know the Fox and the Hound better?

Thumper Hops Into Animation 3: Coming April 12th

The Disney Vinylmation Events page was updated to include an April 12th release date for Animation 3. While we do know the identity of half of the 12 figure mystery set and a few of the LE combos, the biggest reveal from this update was the combo topper. No photos as of yet, but it was revealed to be none other than Thumper from Bambi!

I can not wait to see what this figure looks like. Similar to the Classic Collection's Oswald, it will be a let down if Thumper does not have the bunny ears instead of the Mickey ears. I think it also needs the cotton tail that we saw on the 2012 Easter Bunny figure.

By the way, Thumper is designed by Casey Jones... who also designed the Easter Bunny figure above. So I think it is a safe bet we will see the Bambi bunny on a similar platform! Thumper joins his buddy Flower from the 1942 Disney animated classic who appeared in Animation Series 2 last year.

New Possible Release Dates and Sets

A source of Vinylmation Kingdom provided release dates for some upcoming series. None of these dates are confirmed by Disney at this time, but they give us a peak at windows to anticipate these sets. A few are once we know about, a few are ones we have never heard of.


3/8 – Oz Series - This series of 3"/Jr combos will celebrate the upcoming Disney Movie "Oz: The Great and Powerful." March 8 is also the release date of the movie.

3/24 – Mickey’s Wild West Series - No idea about this one. I'd assume Mickey and Pals in western garb and probably not the 1928 comedy short staring Mickey Rooney.There is a 1934 Disney Short called "Two Gun Mickey."

There is also a show at the Disneyland Paris Disney Village called "Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show."

"An encounter with Buffalo Bill, Sitting Bull, Annie Oakley and the Rough Riders brings the audience back to the Old West. Upon arrival, guests are greeted by Mickey in the festive atmosphere of Colonel Cody's Saloon alongside Goofy Sheriff and the musicians. Let the Show begin!"

3/29 – Cutesters: En Vogue Series - This will be the first series on the new Minnie shaped platform. Features a high fashion look.

4/5 – Urban Redux 1 Series - The reboot of the Urban series will feature different set sizes than we are used to.

4/12 – 9″ Chernobog and Animation 3 Series - The great part about the 9" Chernobog announcement is that we have now seen a few 9 inch figures with accessories. So if this doesn't have wings, big disappointment. He could be a part of the Fantasia series. Animation 3 is solid so far from what we had seen at Mickey's Circus.

4/22 – Masks Series - I can't even begin to guess.

4/26 – Monsters University Series - A mystery box set featuring characters from the upcoming Disney Pixar film.
