Two Patriots

Update: 2/20/12 Steven Miller later responded in a comment that the Uncle Sam figure will be a separately sold open window box figure.

In honor of President's Day, the Disney Parks Blog has shown us some great looking upcoming figures. The first is the 9" Holiday 3 Patriot we saw on the poster at the Florida Project.

Its designed by Casey Jones and will be released later this year. I like the detailed look on his face and the patriot hat is amazing.

The second is Uncle Sam. Our best guess is this is the first we are seeing if Holiday 4. This figure will be a limited release open window box figure similar to what they release for Valentine's Day or Halloween and should be released around the 4th of July. Very exciting.

New Holiday Vinylmation to Hatch on 2/17

With weather like today, it feels like spring is right around the corner. Oh, sorry to all of our readers in cold weather climates. But it was a spectacular day in sunny Central Florida. And take a look at what we found in the D-Street display case that made thoughts of Spring pop into our heads.

Thanks Austin for sending this in. This 9" Easter inspired figure will be released on February 17. It is an LE 800 and will retail for $44.95. Here is a look at the concept art for this figure...

9" Holiday 3 Vinylmation Explained

Update: 9/13/11 We found out the entire line up on 9" Holiday 3 figures on a poster on display at The Florida Project.

This series of Vinylmation are the first that will be released in the new 9" mold. First on display at D23 in August.

	Dracula Artist: TBA LE: TBA Price: TBA Release Date: TBA An evil looking face and great detail on the shirt with the bats and the pocket watch. It captures Dracula well, but I'm spoiled by customs that add things like real capes.
	Patriot Artist: TBA LE: TBA Price: TBA Release Date: TBA A very Patriotic figure, I'm drawn to this one as I am to the Patriot from Holiday 2. He has nice definition in his face and it for sure looks like he will have an accessory hat. I may have to grab this one if the price is in the 40's.
	Easter Egg Artist: TBA LE: TBA Price: TBA Release Date: TBA A colorful egg design with a chick peaking out of the crack in the head. It's a solid design, but doesn't appeal to me. I do like the idea and placement of design elements.
	Chocolate Birthday Cake Artist: TBA LE: TBA Price: TBA Release Date: TBA Identical in every way except color to the 9" Holiday 2 figure by Tyler Dumas. Not a bad design. Its fun but the earlier figure had a small production issue. I was layered with stickers for the pattern and they overlapped, misaligned and shown through each other in parts distracting from the overall figure. Hope they fixed that in this release.
	Be My Valentine Artist: Lisa Badeen LE: 1000 Price: $44.95 Release Date: 1/21/12
	Thanksgiving Diner Aftermath Artist: Mike Sullivan LE: 600 $44.95 Release Date: November 2011 Wow! All ready for a nap. I have to say, I love this design. It's kind of gross, but very cool looking. Note his right arm. It looks a bit odd, almost like another left, but not sure if it is or not. If not, the new 9" mold has two different right arms... one to hold accessories and one like this. (see below)
	Nutcracker Suite 9"/3" combo Artist: Maria Clapsis LE: 1200 -11/18 (D23 said 1000) $74.95 Release Date: November 18th, 2011 Online This is the Rat King from the Nutcracker. The new 9" mold, like the 3", allows for easier holding of accessories. Here is a look around his head:
	Nutcracker Suite 9"/3" combo Artist: Maria Clapsis LE: 1200 -11/18 (D23 said 1000) $74.95 Release Date: November 18th, 2011 Online The Nutcracker is the 3" figure in this combo. Here, the shape of the head neck to body area of the new 3" mold really pays off for the shape of the mouth.

Today In Review

Wow, a ton of announcements today.

	Disney put a January 20th release date on this 9" Holiday 3 Valentine's Day figure we saw on a poster at D-Street. Details

	How about Theme Park Favorites? A set of open window figures will also be out... you guessed it, January 20th. Details
This crazy little hamster appeared on Vinylmation's Facebook page. It's Rhino from Bolt! And yes, that's his own plastic ball. I saw a great comment speculating is is an Animation 2 LE. How cool would that be?
	Oh ya, and this little set came across from China. It's the Chinese Zodiac set. This drops in the states on... January 20th! Details

Holiday 3 Valentine's Day 9" Release Date

Update: Here is the back and side.

The back is similar to the front. More hearts and doilies.

The side has a heart and you can see the To/From tag and string like it's tied around the ear.

Disney announced a January 20th release date for the next 9" Holiday 3 figure. It is Valentine's Day themed with an LE of 1200 and a price tag of $44.95. No artist given. Lisa Badeen is the artist.

It's almost like a Valentine's Day card with the "Be My Valentine" inscription and doilies all around. And the left ear has a hear with an arrow through it. I'd like to see the back have another inscription or even a place to write your own note to your sweetheart. What do you think about that? Until next time, XOXO, DV.

Meet the Holiday 3 Artists in Orlando

Today, Holiday 3 comes out at D-Streets. Next Friday, December 16th, you can meet the artists! Caley Hicks, Thomas Scott, Eric Caszatt, Maria Clapsis, Lin Shih, and Casey Jones will be at D-Street Orlando from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. They will meet with and talk to guests as well as sign Holiday 3 figures.

Holiday 3 Vinylmation Explained

Update: A reader Don sent us an email confirming the Dragon as the chaser from a seller on eBay who has already been able to open a fresh case.

Update: 11/29/11 Pictures of 11 of the 12 figures and 2 variants from this set have shown up on Disney's Vinylmation website. This revealed one figure we have not yet seen:

The Chinese New Years Dragon. This figure is absolutely amazing looking. The colors and detail make this instantly one of my favorite Holiday vinyls. The only figure from the 12 piece set not pictured on Vinylmation's website, but already revealed as a Holiday 3 design was Puppy Love (see picture below). As I said, two variants have been revealed:

An inverse colored Christmas Ornament. This one makes a ton of sense and is a perfect color change variant. The second one doesn't make as much sense to me.

Instead of a green clear, this Jelly Bean variant uses red. The green made so much sense to me as it represents the fake green grass inside the Easter basket. It's a nice variant, just does fit logically for me. We also updated some of the pictures blow with the first look at the non-pin version or artwork version of Pot O' Gold and some interesting figure backs that stood out to us. Also standing out, is the side of Fireworks with the fuse.

Update: 11/21/11 Date for release: December 9th 2011.

Update: 8/28/11 New pics added as most of set was revealed at the Sci-Fi event and D23 Expo. And we have a release date... this is the first announced 2012 release. We will see Holiday 3 in January 2012.

	Christmas Ornament We now have plenty of Vinylmation to make your spirits bright around the holidays! This is a nice red and green design you would find on a glass Christmas Ornament. Would have liked to see a hook accessory, but that may be saved for Jingle Smells. Variant
	Founding Father Hail to the Chief. Looks like a President's Day figure. Powdered wig, a colonial uniform and the Presidential Seal in the ear.
	Jelly Beans Multi-colored jelly beans falling against what could be fake plastic green grass that you would find in an Easter Basket. With all these sweet Holiday Vinylmation year after year, Disney will have to make a tooth fairy vinyl because my teeth are falling out. Variant
	Fireworks Boom! And explosive design to celebrate the 4th of July. I like this design a lot. The pointed head will be great. The warning label in the ear is a perfect touch. Love the back!
	Day of the Dead A colorful tribute to the Mexican Holiday. We have the Trade City Day of the Dead, but this one has great detail. It has a skull in the head. The maracas in the head and ears make this an exciting design. A beautifully designed vinyl
	Cranberry Sauce Vinylmation Farms apparently grows cranberries in addition to raising cows for milk and squeezing OJ. The silver on the arms and feet represent the can and label lets us know there is a yummy Thanksgiving Day side dish inside. It appears to already be coming out of the can as represented in the head. Nutrition info NEVER gets old
	Pot o' Gold This was revealed on St. Patrick's Day 2011. The body is a green pot with a four leaf clover. It is filled with gold with rays of golden shine filling the head of the figure.
	Shot Thru the Heart Puppy Love Revealed on February 16th 2011. It seems like a bear or is a dog who's been hit with an arrow from Cupid. Poor guy, he doesn't know what he's in for. With all those hearts, it seems like a prime place to hide a Mickey. Now that Disney released the official name, Puppy Love, the dog makes much more sense.
	Dreidel Hanukkah This was shown back in November of 2010. The body is a dreidel, with the front showing the Shin side (which means you add one to the pot, the worst possible outcome to a spin). Shown on the head and the right ear are gold Hanukkah gelt, which is sometimes used while playing with a dreidel. These days the gelt are gold foil covered pieces of chocolate. Also of note is that one of the gelt has a picture of a menorah, the candelabrum used during Hanukkah.
	Witch This was a popular figure. A cool hat accessory comes with this green witch. She has a lot of ugly detail in her face. And her ears are painted a Halloween purple. Unfortunately, nothing special on the back.
	April Fools Jester Disney has often given us some great April Fools Day pins, so it's a bout time we get a Vinylmation to celebrate this jokesters holiday. He has a simple, fun look to him. I like the eyes and tongue sticking out.
