Funko Disney Pop! Vinyl Mystery Minis Blind Boxes

Updated 2/14/13 We learned some news from the NYC Toy Fair. Mystery Minis will be released on February 28, retail for $5.95 and be sold in cases of 24.

These are adorable. Today we learned that in March 2013, Funko will release a blind box series of Disney Pop! Vinyls. Just take a look...

They are smaller than the open window Pop! Vinyls... about 2-3 inches tall. There will be eight characters, each with three poses that will be seeded at various odds. Here is a look at the odds chart.

No price point yet. Not something I will try to complete, but I sure will pick up a few of these. I'd assume you will be able to find these at Disney Stores and online.

Funko Disney Pop! Vinyl Series 5

Over at funkofunatic.com's forums we noticed a poster named Capt Hook who had the above picture on several of his posts. It looks like this is the full set of Series 5 (including a 3rd Monsters University figure). They also think these will be out by May 28th.

A Look at Funko Disney Pop! Series 5

We can expect the 5th installment of Funko's line of Disney Pop! vinyl figures in early 2013. The lineup was revealed late last year as follows:

Vinylmation World has uncovered some photos from a website Gemini Collectibles who actually sells prototypes of the figures for about $125 each. So these are the unfinished prototypes of most of the figures in series 5.

Disney Funko Pop! at Comic Con 2012

In addition to a few Disney Vinylmation releases, this year's San Diego Comic Con will also see a ton of exclusive Disney licensed Funko Pop! vinyls for purchase. Funko Disney Pop! Vinyl Series 3 Explained

The Disney Store surprised us Thursday with the appearance of Pop! Vinyl Series 3 online. Coming only 4 months after Series 2, this set gives a strong character selection and seems to step it up a little bit on the designs. With seemingly more hats, accessories and such and maybe even a little more detail overall. Funko also likes sticking in multiple characters from the same movie in each series. This one includes 2 from Alice, The Little Mermaid and The Incredibles.

	Alien Toy Story Amazing! Honestly, I was looking at my Disney collection 3 days ago and said "I need more Toy Story Alien stuff." He's my 2nd favorite Disney character.
	Ariel The Little Mermaid Perfectly designed. Except for Hook, my favorite design of this set.
	Cheshire Cat Alice in Wonderland All the Vinylmation now this... plenty of Cheshire Cats to add to your collection now. Love the huge smile and tail.
	Donald Duck Like the classic look of the design.
	Edna Mode The Incredibles Not complaining, but the Funko designers really enjoy The Incredibles characters. Great choice to put Edna in here.
	Elastigirl The Incredibles Perfect to put next to the Mr.
	Captain Hook Peter Pan Wow, perfect all around. The hat is brilliant. The hare and mustache look great. He has the hook of course. The added touch of the sword. And the design is great right down to the boots.
	Mad Hatter Alice in Wonderland I think Funko stepped it up this series. Mad Hatters is perfectly over-sized and he even has a cup of tea.
	Winnie the Pooh The face looks very simple, yet amazing. And not only is he holding a honey pot... but check out the other hand. It has honey on it!
	Ursula The Little Mermaid The evil smile and the nicely done tentacles make this one of my favorites as well. I like how the designers varied up the arm positions to give each figure more character.

Funko Disney Pop! Vinyl Update

It was 1am and I was stuffed and could barely keep my eye lids open, but on black Friday, I finished off my Disney Pop! Vinyl Series 2 set at a nice discount at the Disney Store. These are not as sought after as out beloved Vinylmation, but Funk's series of Disney Pop! Vinyl are popular, and Series 2 inventory is beginning to wain at the Disney Stores. Series 1 is for the most part gone. But we have had two recent listener comments pointing to some stock in non-Disney stores. So if you are looking for these for Christmas, here are the tips.

Series 2 has been seen at Barnes and Nobel stores. We got a tweet with that piece of intel from Chris.

This next tip isn't just about where to find Series 1, but where to find it at a discount! Brandon wrote in:
"Not sure if you guys have Fry’s Electronics on the east coast, or if it’s just over here for us west coast folk, but I was shopping there the other day when I noticed that the Series 1 Disney Pop vinyl figures are available for just $8.99. Since this series is no longer readily available at Disney stores I thought it might be a good chance for people to round out those that were missing from their collections."
A Google search showed me that Fry's only has locations west of the Mississippi, but since we are seeing these outside of Disney Stores, a lot of times vinyl collectibles show up at places like FYE or Hot Topic.

It's also worth noting that 11 of the 12 Series 2 figures (no Jack Skellington) are still available for $12.50 each at the Disney Store Online.

D23 Exclusive Pop! Vinyl Review

D23 in Anaheim saw the release of a couple limited edition Funko Disney Pop! Vinyl figures as well as the premiere of Series 2. The Disney Store inside D23 opened up Sunday with extremely long lines waiting to get in because along with the Pop! Vinyl, it was Lion King release day as well.

Cast Members were on hand to assist guests and hand out the LE Pop! and Series 2 figures. This was a great idea as it cut down on the mad house atmosphere that would have otherwise occurred. Guests were let into the small store a few at a time.

First, Series 2 of Pop! Vinyl, at last check sold out at the Disney Store Online, is a 12 figure set that retails for $12.50 a piece, just like Series 1. The second offering consists of: Belle, Beast, Jack, Sally, Jessie, Boo, George Sanderson, Mr. Incredible, Syndrome, Lotso, Minnie and Steamboat Willie Mickey.

The first of the limited edition Pop! Vinyl available at D23 was this 9" Metal Steamboat Willie. He sold for $44.50 and was LE 360 (advertised as 350).

Now, the people who bought 9" Maleficent and Buzz at Comic Con commented on how absolutely large these were once they got them. And boy are they right. You think 9" Vinylmation, but somehow these just seem more massive. And the packaging is huge. I forgot I had to fly back with this and had to open it and flatten the box to get it home!

The style is fantastic on this figure. I enjoy the classic Mickey look. Not much detail to speak of, but that isn't a design flaw... its just the nature of the subject.

The construction of the figure is quality. It's solid and sturdy and looks great on my shelf.

Next up, the 3" Flocked Lotso. He sold for $14.95 and was LE 480 (advertised as 500).

Lotso is incredible! I really great purchase here. This flocked version, which is like a peach fuzz texture, totally captures Lotso much more than the regular vinyl version will.

There are a few "dent" marks along the skin, but it doesn't detract from the overall look of this guy when he is sitting in your collection.

Again, other than the "dents", the quality here is great as well. He is covered from head to toe.
