Release News Update
Just a few news & notes:
The commemorative New York Giants Super Bowl Vinylmation is now available at D-Street Orlando. We originally thought this would be an online exclusive. Thank you Disney for tossing this in my face as I walk into my favorite store. Any word if these are in D-Street California?
We originally reported that D-Street Orlando did not get the 3" Easter Bunny on March 9th. Now we are hearing they received about 50 and sold out with in hours and now expect another shipment. While at WDW today, I did find a few on the Polynesian shelves, but in not other resort or the Magic Kingdom. DLR seems to still have plenty in stock.
An assortment of DCL figures were expected at DisneyStore.com on March 9th... they never docked. Now Disney says a new date of arrival is TBA.
And as noted in a previous article today, the Tunes series (minus Donald and Dale) will be available at D-Streets starting March 23.

The Pinstripes Take The Field at Times Square
With Linsanity taking over the Garden and the Giants just bringing home another Super Bowl trophy, the furthest thing from a New York sports fan's mind are the Yankees. But Spring Training is right around the corner and Disney has released the 3" New York Yankees MLB Teams figure at the NYC Times Square Disney Store.
Thanks to The Playwright for all these pictures. As you can see, they still have some 3" Hey Taxi tins and Muppets 2 on hand.
These look great in person... I just picked up my Red Sox the other day at WDW. So to the news that Red Sox sold out at D-Street... they got plenty more in stock. These MLB figures are my favorites of the Teams series designs. There is a ton of character and detail to them.
For those of you who keep your open window figures in the box, the packaging is nicely designed as well. The Yankees figure seen above has also been released at WDW and DLR in various stores as well as online. For detailed info, check out MLB Teams Explained.

Giants 21, Patriots 17, SB Vinylmation $18.95
Update: 2/6/12 The DisneyStore.com updated the picture on the SB commemorative figure to represent the Giants designed figure.
Apparently it is the same figure as we showed you in the ad from last night. I'm a little disappointed in the design as I thought this was just a placeholder. Other than the logo on the chest, it doesn't really say New York Giants. The colors are a generic red and yellow instead of Giant blue. I suppose it is possible this is also a placeholder. Also of note, the status of the figure has been changed to backordered.

Note the small print: "Site image will be updated to reflect the NYG mid-Monday morning PT." Here is a screen shot of the DisneyStore.com's listing as of about an hour after the game.
You can actually add this item to your cart and purchase it right now. Guess Eli Manning saved me $18.95 tonight. This limited release vinyl complete with Super Bowl XLVI logo on helmet was designed by Eric Caszatt. The price is a bit higher than the regular NFL teams figures, but it is a commemorative item. What say you Giants fans... adding this to your collection?
The website state "this item will ship in 4 week." Makes sense, I wouldn't expect them to have produced both and have them ready to ship

Super Vinylmation Sunday!
Surprise and Expected Friday Releases
We knew of a few releases today, but we also had a few surprises on the DisneyStore.com this morning (thanks Brad for the info!).
6 of the NCAA teams are for sale online for $14.95: FSU, Ohio State, Penn State, UCLA, Florida, USC. They were supposed to release online and in select park locations on 2/10. Find all the details about NCAA teams here.
Similar story here, the first wave of 8 MLB teams are for sale online. They were also not supposed to be available until next Friday. Check out MLB explained for all the details.
Now for what we knew about... Tapestry of Nations will be available at the D-Streets and select EPCOT locations.
The NFL Teams figures went up for sale online last Friday, this week they hit the stores. Check out NFL explained for details on what figures will be available where.

NCAA Collegiate Teams Explained
Release Date: February 10, 2012
Where: WDW, DLR, Online (see below for where a specific team will be released)
Price: $14.95
Details: This set of College teams, like the other teams sets, will be released in waves. The first wave includes Florida, FSU, Ohio St., Penn St., UCLA and USC. The teams without pictures have all been announced as coming in the future.
Update: 2/11/12 Duke and Iowa added to lineup.
Where: WDW, DLR, Online (see below for where a specific team will be released)
Price: $14.95

Update: 01/28/12 Release date of 2/10 announced as well as where certain teams will be for sale. Yankees and Red Sox are the only teams that will release in all three locations. Some teams will be released in the Disney Store in their home city. Also of note, NY Mets did not make wave one as expected. Instead, the SF Giants will be an initial release.
This will start as an 8 figure Open Window set. They then can then add more teams later on. All the figures have the same basic design. A baseball in the right ear. Grey batting gloves. A hat with the team's logo painted onto the head. A Home jersey painted onto the body. The feet have a pair of spikes painted onto them. The only missing element that would skyrocket these in awesomeness.... an accessory bat!

This will start as an 8 figure Open Window set. They then can then add more teams later on. All the figures have the same basic design. A team colored basketball for a head. The team logo is on the front of the body with the teams colors in back of it and alternate team colors on the sides. They also have wristbands of the team color painted on each arm. For as big as sneakers are in basketball, I thought the feet would have a little more detail.
