Artist John Henselmeier Posts Custom Vinyl How To Videos

We have been seeing a lot from Artist John Henselmeier lately. I have known him mostly from pins, but his talents are beginning to be seen in the Vinylmation hobby as well. Last August, he had a custom Circus Monkey in the Mickey's Circus silent auction. This year, he has a few customs in the Tiki Room 50th event catalog, including a Dole Whip. And, when Park 12 releases later this year, we will see his first production piece... a Mariachi Cobre from the Mexico Pavilion, Epcot World Showcase.

Recently, on John's YouTube Channel, he has posted a two part video with some tips on how to customize Vinylmation, or any other toy for that matter. I for one, have so many questions about the process. I do not have an artistic background, but I enjoy painting Vinylmation as a fun hobby. I am always bothering my actual artist friends (you know who you are) with all my questions.

With John's videos, budding artists get a detailed step by step process for creating a custom. While fans can get an inside look at the creative process behind his released and upcoming customs... including sneak peeks. Check them out below and Follow John on Twitter @johnhensel.

More Tiki Tiki Tiki Room Stuff

Last week we saw some sneak peaks at three of the designs from the upcoming Tiki Room 50th Anniversary celebration. This week we saw some more. This is all from the collectables pdf they released this week. (There are also a lot of pins and other things. I'm sure onceuponapin.com will be discussing that in detail!

This version of Michael is by Javier Soto. It's just a concept drawing but I think it will look great. He's clearly got some idea of wings. It would be even cooler if it was all in feathers!
Look at the detail in this Katie Kelly figure. It's beautiful (and one of the only figures we actually get to see as the actual figure and not a artist's concept.

I like the dress. We'll have to see what it looks like in real life. Hopefully there is some wood coloring on the body (like this next one).

This year NOAH has been doing a better job (to me) of creating unique, but colorful vinyls. He's gotten away from his ghostly clouds on black to create some more solidly colored figures. I think this is another step in the position way.

This figure looks great. I'm not sure who Yakovetic is, but I like the idea. The question is.. Is this a vinyl on it's head, or just drawn that way? We won't know until we see the real thing.
The next three we have already seen and are by famous pin artist John Henselmeier.

So over all, what do you think about these customs? Would you want to get one? Which do you think is the coolest?
