More Tiki Tiki Tiki Room Stuff

Last week we saw some sneak peaks at three of the designs from the upcoming Tiki Room 50th Anniversary celebration. This week we saw some more. This is all from the collectables pdf they released this week. (There are also a lot of pins and other things. I'm sure onceuponapin.com will be discussing that in detail!

This version of Michael is by Javier Soto. It's just a concept drawing but I think it will look great. He's clearly got some idea of wings. It would be even cooler if it was all in feathers!
Look at the detail in this Katie Kelly figure. It's beautiful (and one of the only figures we actually get to see as the actual figure and not a artist's concept.

I like the dress. We'll have to see what it looks like in real life. Hopefully there is some wood coloring on the body (like this next one).

This year NOAH has been doing a better job (to me) of creating unique, but colorful vinyls. He's gotten away from his ghostly clouds on black to create some more solidly colored figures. I think this is another step in the position way.
This figure looks great. I'm not sure who Yakovetic is, but I like the idea. The question is.. Is this a vinyl on it's head, or just drawn that way? We won't know until we see the real thing.
The next three we have already seen and are by famous pin artist John Henselmeier.

So over all, what do you think about these customs? Would you want to get one? Which do you think is the coolest?

Noah and The Beast

Update 03/20/13 We now have a full photo of Noah's Epcot Flower and Garden Festival creation as well as some news on his appearances. From the Disney Merchandise Blog:

Noah's "The Beast and the Rose" Vinylmation
No world on the exact number of the Beast Vinylmation. There will also be special appearances by artists all weekend, including Noah again on April 6th:
Take part in a special artist showcase throughout the weekend of April 5 – 7 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., each day, along the promenade in Epcot, as we celebrate some of the newest releases inspired by the 2013 International Flower and Garden Festival.
Noah's "Beauty Blooms from Within" painting
Yesterday, Noah sent out a teaser photo of a new Vinylmation creation via Instagram.

It is titled "Beast and Rose" and will be released at the 2013 Epcot Flower and Garden Festival. On the post he does mention a signing and we do know he will be at the event on April 6th-7th. No further details, such as edition size or price is known at this time. Just a quick look at this preview, and you can see this is something special from Noah. I never question Noah's talent, and art is subjective, but the airbrushed vinyl doesn't always peak my interest. However, when he adds the "extras" that make up the whole piece of art, that is where the designs excel. This one has an accessory rose and a "grassy" base. Also, instead of sitting atop his usual stand, it is housed inside what looks to be a lantern or glass case of some kind. I can not wait to check this one out in person.

A Figment of Noah's Imagination

Update 3/6/13 Here are a few facts from Disney:

  • Each piece is hand-painted in a purple pearl finish, which shines to show off Figment's smiling face, along with planets and stars
  • Hand-signed by the artist on foot
  • Includes acrylic stand with printed Noah Figment graphic on cut-out number "30" backdrop
  • Produced on demand up to 30 pieces
  • Inspired by Epcot's Journey Into Your Imagination with Figment attraction
  • Commemorating Epcot's 30th Anniversary (Epcot Center opened to the public October 1, 1982)
  • Exclusive to DisneyParks.com/store
  • Note: Custom hand-crafted works typically display unique texture and paint handling. Coloring may vary. No two are the same!
  • Please allow 6-8 weeks for delivery due to the custom nature of this product.
  • Please Note: Each Guest will be limited to ordering a maximum of 2 of this item per order.
  • Please Note: Due to the unique nature of this item, there are no refunds, exchanges or returns.
  • Sorry! Express shipping not available for this item.

Artist Noah has released his latest 9" Vinylmation creation titled "Dream Dragon." It features Figment from Epcot's Imagination Pavilion and celebrates the 30th anniversary of the theme park.
There will be 30 of these made and are for sale right now exclusively at Disney's Vinylmation Facebook Store for $750. This custom continues Noah's style of an airbrushed figure on a stand with a painted back. I really like the Figment that is featured on the stand as well as the cut on "30."
