Pin Trading Halted at Disney Parks

Disney has put an indefinite halt on guest pin trading with Cast Members at all Disney parks after a guest was injured at Hollywood Studios in Orlando on Sunday. Read the full story at our sister site Once Upon a Pin.

With pin trading put on hold, is Vinylmation trading far behind?

On November 8th, Disney will release a Mystery Collection of Vinylmation Park Starz pins. The set will contain 17 total pins. Each box contains 1 of 11 "Revealed" pins and 1 of 6 "Mystery" pins and will have a retail price of $32.95. Mean at $16.48 a pin, they are just about as expensive as the actual figures that came in a blind tin for $18.95!

The 6 mystery pins should be: Small World Boy & Goat, and then the variants for the Bride, Yeti, Abe, Squid and Figment. Check out OnceUponAPin.com for more on these and other Disney Pins.

Once Upon a Pin's Mickey's Circus Review

First, I want to thank any of our DV listeners/readers who have been checking out Once Upon a Pin, our Disney pin podcast and website we launched a few months back. Our numbers have been rising over the past few weeks with positive feedback about our approach.

You can help by spreading the word to your pin collecting friends in person, on Facebook and on the pin message boards. As you know, Mickey's Circus was a great source of previews for pins and vinyl. DV had pictures of all the vinyl, but if you are also interested in the pin side, Once Upon a Pin had everything covered. We split the coverage up into three shorter podcasts:

Episode 12: Christmas and Nightmare Before Christmas pin previews

Episode 13: General pins that will be released at WDW and DLR. This includes pins of the month, event and general attraction and character pins as well as a look at next year’s POtM and AP pins.

Epcot's 30th Pins Preview

Epcot turns the big three-oh later this fall and I can not wait to see how Disney plans to celebrate. Well, we all know how they plan to celebrate... MERCHANDISE! Maybe we will have a commemorative vinyl? What we do know is there will be pins. Over at Once Upon a Pin you can see the latest previews from last Friday's WDW Trade Night. There was a ton of buzz surrounding the Epcot stuff.

First and foremost, this retro lanyard. There will also be a 10 pin mystery box series featuring Figment.

Episode 2 of Once Upon a Pin

We just released episode 2 of the new Once Upon a Pin podcast today. If you are a pin collector, check it out for all all the latest news, release dates and reviews with a fun Disney magic twist.

Disneyland - June 29th; Schedule of Events

June 29th is a busy day for collectors at Disneyland. Up until now, we have only gotten bits and pieces of what is going on, now we seem to have the complete picture.

The day starts off with a treat for pin collectors. Gear Up for Adventure is part of a summer long series of pin releases at DLR. For a complete look at the catalog, please visit OnceUponAPin.com or listen to episode 2 of the Once Upon a Pin podcast (to be released on Tuesday, June 12).

Artists Monty Maldovan and Quynh Kimball will be at Pin Traders, Downtown Disney District from 9a-11a to sign those pins. Gear Up For Adventure Signing Opportunity - Guests who have obtained a Gear Up For Adventure Online Wristband will have the opportunity to meet the artists and have pins from the Road Trip to California collection signed.  For details, visit www.DisneyPins.com.

Then Vinylmation takes center stage with the release of Duffy the Disney Bear when D-Street opens at 10:30am. Also released this day is the (as of this post) unknown Color Block Series. The releases will be found on both coasts, however only Disneyland will get the following signings.

A New Disney Pin Podcast

Once upon a time, in an enchanted Kingdom full of magic and dreams, there lived a handsome Prince. His name was Pins Charming, and he had all he could ever want, but for one thing... Disney Pins. One day, a merry Pin Trader named Rapinzel came traveling through the Kingdom spreading the joy of Pin collecting to all the land. The Prince was so overtaken with happiness that he teamed up with the Pin Trader to shout all the latest pin news from the highest hills to the lowest valleys. Get ready for a fantastic adventure as we join our Once Upon a Pin hosts, Pins Charming and Rapinzel... aka Nick and Rachel.

Introducing a new podcast dedicated to Disney Pins. Each show, we will run down the latest Disney Pin release calendar. We decided to break the releases down by locations such as WDW/DLR shared pins, WDW exclusives, DLR exclusives, Disneyland Paris, Disney Soda Fountain and more.

The releases are followed by a calendar of events (trading, merchandise and signings). We will of course cover the latest pin news as well. This is were we will preview upcoming merchandise and review pins that just hit stores. Most shows will also include a feature section. In the first episode, we reviewed the Star Wars Weekend pins.

If you collect Disney Pins, and would like all the information delivered in a fast paced, entertaining format, I think you will enjoy this new show. As with Destination Vinylmation, we of course need your help to collect all the info. So you will be a big part of the show as well. We plan on a 30-60 minute episode every other week.
