Little Green Men Land at D-Street

Friday, December 14th saw the release of the Pixar 1 Little Green Men combo at D-Streets and Online.

The set of three Little Green Men is a limited edition 2000 and retails for $44.95. The online quantity sold out in less than 15 minutes. As of the end of the day on Friday, both D-Streets still had an undefined number of sets left on the shelves. It was not a very crowded release at Walt Disney World. There were about 5 people in line at 6am and about 20 by 8am. There were about 50-60 people at 10:30am when the store opened. I felt bad for the vacationers, of which there seemed to be many. It was a very chilly morning... not the sunny Orlando they were promised.

The Little Green Men fit in nicely with the Toy Story set produced a couple years ago. That set did include an LE 9" version of the alien. Artist Thomas Scott, who handled the Toy Story series, also designed this LE combo. He did a remarkable job with these three little guys. He gave them each a unique personality in the facial expressions and eyes. When put together, they make a perfect trio.

There is, of course also a Park 2 Toy Story Alien. The guys are a little concerned about him as he has a different nose, no antenna  and some suspicious bumps on his stomach. They think he should get those checked out.

An Andy's drawing version from Japan was released earlier this year. The new LGM are impressed by the artistry, but think it best to keep this work of art boxed up until further research can be done. There is also a TS Alien in the recently released Robots 3 set now on sale at The Disney Store and Online. They haven't met him yet.

Then there is the Urban 7 Alien. They don't know where he originates from, but it certainly isn't the claw machine. They are split on weather or not he comes in peace.

By the end of the day, the Little Green Men had settled in and felt right at home in my collection.

Toy Story Photoshoot

We can't believe it took them this long, but the Toy Story figures finally asked for a field trip to ride Toy Story Midway Mania. Austin and I were happy to oblige, and even took a short detour to the All-Star Movie Resort for a look around the Toy Story buildings. I hope you enjoy this photoshoot. Austin provided some captions. I also included some pictures of Buzz and Woody's trip to Pixar Weekend last spring. As always, more photos on our Facebook page. (also, check out our story on the history of TS Midway Mania and the Park 9 LE figure)

Andy's Tokyo Toys

Who knew? It seems as though Andy from the Pixar Toy Story franchise went away to college to become an artist:
Straight from our friends over at the Vinylmation Japan Blog (an unofficial fan site), we have revealed four Toy Story Vinylmation that will be released at Tokyo Disney Sea on July 5th at McDucks Department Store. They are to commemorate the summer opening of the Toy Story Midway Mania attraction at Tokyo Disney. They will cost 1200 Yen or $15 USD. It seems to be a four figure series that includes Woody, Buzz, Jessie and the Alien all designed from the stand point that Andy actually drew them. And as you can see above, Andy actually signs them as the artist!
To me, these are an absolutely beautifully designed series. Such a unique take that makes so much sense in the Toy Story universe.

Spotlight On: Custom Artist Crazy4Vinyls' Toy Story Series 2

Last week we posted Mike Boon's speculation on the vinyl sequel to the Toy Story Series. When he saw them, Crazy4Vinyl mentioned that he had done similar series. So, to continue the theme, here is Crazy4Vinyls' Toy Story Series 2.
What do you think? These are some really cool characters. First he has Mr. and Mrs. Potatohead. Then Chuckles and Mr. Pricklepants. Then to round out the set of figures similar to Mike's he has Dolly. I think the Chuckles came out magnificent. And Mr. Potatohead's hat looks great (I think this set was done before Villains 2.
To complete the set he has Puck, Bookworm, and Stretch. Two additional awesome characters included are, Totoro (a Japanese Miyazak character who has a cameo in Toy Story 3) and the Troika nesting doll. Take a peek above at the full turn around of Troika. And then below look at the original character.
Crazy4Vinyl did a great job and found some really cool characters that would be a great addition to the Toy Story 1 series already out. Good job Crazy and let us know what you think in the comments below. Anyone else you would want to see in this set?

VM Speculation with Mike Boon: Babyface and Chaser

The last day of Mike's Toy Story Series 2 speculation. We'd like to thank Mike again (for like the 7th time) for all the great artwork he allows us to post on our site. I hope you guys enjoyed this set, and if there is any other interesting set you think might be fun to see in the future, let us know!
 Babyface
Toy Story (1995)

The leader of Sid’s mutant toys in the first Toy Story, Babyface consists of a baby doll head atop a spider-like body made of an erector set. Though Big Baby in Toy Story Series 1 was a disappointment, I like the mix of dark and cute in this character design.

"Mike did a great job with the legs in this figure. This is what the robot chef should have looked like!"-M.C.
 Woody’s Roundup Woody
Toy Story 2 (1999)
Voiced by: Tom Hanks

I wanted to include either Buzz or Woody in this series. I thought about a Spanish Buzz, but the puppet Woody from the TV series Woody’s Roundup seemed like more of a treat. I tried to tie the design into the Woody from Series 1. This would be the chaser for the series.

"Prefect"-M.C.
