Mickey Through the Years Explained

This is a series of three combo packs with two 3" figures in each combo for a total of six. Each figure will feature Mickey Mouse at a point in his history.
Update 03/06/14 Enrique Pita has announced a March 20 release date for the third and final Mickey Through the Years LE 2-pack. Like the previous packs, it will be released at the Burbank Studio Store.
Update 01/19/14 Enrique Pita posted a photo of the third and final combo on Instagram. It is expected to release in March.It is Mail Pilot and Brave Little Tailor Mickey.

Update 10/25/13 Today a photo of a poster was posted on Enrique Pita's Facebook page announcing the release of his second Mickey Through the Years combo pack on November 7th at the Burbank Studio Store with a signing from 11am - 1pm.
The poster also unveiled the identity of the next two figures... Plane Crazy Mickey and Bandleader Mickey.
This continues the trend of a black and white Mickey packaged with a colorized version and also includes two of the six figures from the film strip art on the packaging of the first combo. Leading us to believe that series 3 will contain Mail Pilot Mickey and Mickey and the Beanstalk. We had heard unofficially the releases would be spaced only 4 months apart, but this one took almost 8, so no word when series 3 will be released.
Update 03/28/13 The first combo pack was released today, March 28. The artist Enrique Pita was on hand to sign the figures and meet with guests. The first combo features Steamboat Willie Mickey (1928) and Modern Mickey (2000's).
We heard there will be about a four month break between each release. If you take a look at the box (or bottom of the flyer from the release), we can surmise what the other four figures now will be.
From Left to right: Steamboat Willie, Plane Crazy, Mail Pilot, Band Concert, Mickey and the Beanstalk, Modern Mickey. So it seems as though each time, a Black and White Mickey will be paired with a color version.

It was expected that Steamboat Willie would be in this series... but this photo shows that he will be holding an accessory ship wheel! We are very excited for this exclusive series. It will in fact be sold in 2 figure combo packs with a total of three combos spread out over three releases. Steamboat will be paired with Modern Mickey (seen below) and released on March 28th at the Studio Store on the Burbank Lot with a signing by Enrique Pita.
Update 02/26/13 We were directed to an eBay auction from a seller in Hong Kong (toyhouse6) of a 3" Mickey titled "Mickey Through the Years: Modern Mickey."
It seems likely this is the Studio Store Mickey talked about in this article, however that is not confirmed. Also, this figure is stated as "used" and appears to be a dumpster diver figure. Meaning it is a figure not meant for release and our standard warnings about purchasing such figures do apply.
We received a voice mail (209-28-MOUSE) from a listener alerting us to a new exclusive Vinylmation release coming to the Disney Studio Store on the Disney Studio Lot on Thursday, March 28. We do not have a photo at this time, but the March 28th release is called "Mickey Through the Years" and is said to be the first in a series of three. The announcement was made on the Cast Member Hub and says there are limited quantities but does not give a number. It also states that artist Enrique Pita will be on hand to sign the figure on that day.

 | Baloo Voiced by: Phil Harris I love that we get a version with the coconut! Makes for a wonderful addition to our collections since we already have a normal version Baloo. This is an iconic scene and deserves a vinyl. |

New San Francisco Trolley and Lombard Junior Key Chains
Disney Store Artist Enrique Pita showed off a photo on Instagram of his 3" Lombard Street design turned into a Junior key chain.
The junior is now available at the San Francisco Disney Store along with a Junior version of the RED Trolley. That is kind of interesting seeing that the Red Trolley design is a Dan Beltran design from a 3" back when Mickey still had a contoured nose. Enrique just recently released an updated, green version of the trolley. Here are both new Junior key chains in their packages courtesy of Vinylmation Exchange.

New SF Green Trolley Coming September 14

The Stockton St. Disney Store in San Francisco has announced an artist signing event with Enrique Pita on Saturday, September 14 from 8am – 10am.There are no pictures yet, but they are calling it the "Green Trolley Vinylmation" and specified that there will be "limited quantities available." Here is a photo of the flyer that we found on Vinylmation Exchange.
There was a previous SF Trolley designed by Dan Beltran that was red and produced on the original Mickey platform.

Aloha! Mickey Surfs Washes Ashore
We have been waiting to see the Mickey Surfs figure that was rumored to be coming to the Honolulu, Hawaii Disney Store. Well, thanks to Enrique Pita, the artist himself, the wait is over.
It has become common place to get more info about Disney Store releases from Enrique Pita than the Disney PR outlets. Enrique posted this photo on his Facebook page and according to the post, Mickey Surfs was released today, June 24th at the Ala Moana Disney Store in Honolulu, HI.
It is an absolutely great design. Nice simple lines and cool painted on sunglasses. And of course, the accessory Surf Board. It makes a wonderful Disney-themed souvenir from Hawaii.
Enrique Pita also posted a photo of the back of the surf board. Wow, the detail here is tremendous.

New NYC Jobs with Character Jr. Key Chains
Disney Store artist Enrique Pita has been a bastion for DS Vinylmation release info since the flow of updates slowed from the company itself. Recently, he Instagramed three new junior key chains he created specifically for the NYC Times Square Disney Store.
The three figures are sold individually. There is NYC Cab Driver Goofy, NYC Policeman Mickey and NYC Fireman Donald! Wow, what amazing detail on these 1.5 inch canvases. They are getting better and better. To actually convey emotion on the faces of these is incredible to me. Here is a photo via Vinylmation Kingdom of each of the figures in the packaging.

We never questioned the talent of the DS artists, just the choice of designs they produce. They have a command of the Mickey platform when drawing characters on the canvas. We just want them to be DISNEY! You may not purchase this particular set, but this is what the average VM collector wants to see from these artists. The colors are wonderful. The use of ears with the various western back drops are perfect. The biggest plus is that they changed them up. And the accessories? Among the best we have ever seen. Just take a look...

Looks like the Wild West series may be a smaller open window series similar to Disney Tunes. But a close look at the fine print mentions "purchase of a tray", so I am not sure at this time. The series seems to be set for a Disney Store release on April 20th with an artist signing with Gerald Mendez and Enrique Pita from 10a-1pm at the South Coast Plaza Mall. We do expect the nation wide release over the same weekend.

 | Pluto First of all, they used the Furry Friends/Whiskers Tales paws! This may be my favorite Pluto. I love he just took a bite out of the bad guy's pants. The "V" star belt is a wonderful touch. |
 | Mickey He is the sheriff. Disney Store makes the most amazing hats. The chewing on the wheat is a perfect touch. And I love that the artist used an old school Mickey. |
 | Minnie Mouse The bonnet is another great accessory by the Disney Store. She has the old school like, just like Mickey. Disney Store does the characters so well... some of the best mouse faces we have seen in Vinylmation. |
 | Donald Donald as an Indian is just spectacular. The expression the DS artists give to his face in all his figures are the perfect way to draw him. It is very hard to make the duck bill work, but they always do. The feather head dress! What can I say? I can not wait to have this one in hand. Then, in the ears, you can see the wild west landscape with cactus and teepees. |
 | Daisy As much as I'm not a Daisy fan, the design here is a lot of fun. She looks like a performer in a wild west saloon. The clothing and feather in ear are great. Love the star background as well. |
