Something more for the Holidays?

There's been a lot of talk this week about Holiday sets (Mostly because the Holiday 2 set is coming out on Friday) and we remembered something interesting we found in the archives over at the Disney Chat Blog. According to Todd on November 2nd, there's a pretty good chance there will be a Chanukah Vinylmation in the next Holiday Set. Sounds cool. What other Holidays should be included? Let us know!

UPDATE 12/1/10: Less than 24 hours after posting this entry, the Vinylmation Facebook page posted pics of the Chanukah Vinylmation, confirming its existence and placement in the Holiday 3 set. Of course Holiday 2 isn't even out yet, so be prepared to wait a year for this Vinylmation.

Quick Facts: The body is a dreidel, with the front showing the Shin side (which means you add one to the pot, oddly the worst possible outcome to a spin). Shown on the head and the right ear are gold Hanukkah gelt, which is sometimes used while playing with a dreidel. These days the gelt are gold foil covered pieces of chocolate. Also of note is that one of the gelt has a picture of a menorah, the candelabrum used during Hanukkah.

Blind Box Trading - 15

Here is a picture of that new 15 cube Vinylmation Mystery Trading Box we talked about last week. As far as I can tell, it's only at D-Street and World of Disney at Downtown Disney. As of the first post, I wasn't sure if it was in the parks or not. I was at Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom the past week, and they were all still using the 24 cube boxes. Also of note, are the new open trading boxes. Again, I've only seen these in Downtown Disney, but the new open boxes are basically open top trays that contain about 8 to 10 Vinylmation that you can choose from to trade for... as opposed to the traditional closed, see through 3 Vinylmation trade boxes. Have you seen either of these anywhere but Downtown Disney? And what do you think about the changes? Have you traded any Jr.'s yet? Let us know what you think.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Sorry it took so long to get our Thanksgiving Day post up. I was enjoying the family, food, football and Taylor Swift special. And by the time I went to take the pic, all the turkey was gone! So I snapped a pic of my late night leftover snack.

Holiday 2

Thanksgiving is almost here, so most of us are getting into the holiday mood. I bet most of you just received your Holiday 2 Snowglobe 9" in the past couple days? I just put mine up on the bookshelf next to Prancer 9". Remember, the Holiday 2 set of 3" figures comes out next Friday, December 3rd (along with the Vinylmation Ice Cube Trays). Looks like this week the Disney Vinylmation Blog is releasing pictures of the figures from the set. Today they posted the 4th of July Patriot figure. Probably my favorite, being from New England. Maybe I'll paint "Brady" and a "12" on his back?

Trade City, EPCOT

UPDATE: As of 11/23/10 at 7:30 pm The Snow Globe 9" + 3" set was back on the online Disney Store and available to buy!

More Tron at D-Street

36 custom hand painted 9" Tron figures were released at D-Street in FL and CA today. Each figure has unique features and come with a $595.00 price tag. M.C. and I couldn't find enough change to pick one up, but we did snap some pics for our fellow Vinylmation fans to enjoy. Are you going to get one? If so, let us know, destinationvinylmation@gmail.com. Send us pics of your Tron display.

TRON!

A Little Less Mysterious

The trading Mystery Boxes at D-Street and World of Disney have reduced in size from 24 cubes to 15. (email us at destinationvinylmation@gmail.com if you can confirm the change is property wide) The smaller boxes have 3 rows of 5 numbers making them a lot easier for cast members to handle them. Although it does lower the variety at a trading station, it allows the cast member to make a smoother, quicker guest interaction. I don't know about you, but I've seen many a cast member fumble with those awkward boxes. A few times even dropping the figures. I welcome the change. How about you?

Coolness Cubed

People can no longer complain that we are just collecting little figures that take up shelf space... Vinylmation are now functional. Want a cool drink? Vinylmation is there. Want a yummy chocolate treat for your next Disney party? Yep, Vinylmation can help you with that now too. It was announced today that those mysterious Vinylmation Ice Cube Trays I told you about a few weeks back, will be officially released on December 3rd! Here was my first look at the Ice Cube Tray and 3" figure that comes with it:
In the clip I released a couple days ago, Disney's Steven Miller explained how the Ice Cube Trays were mistakenly released at Disney's Hollywood Studios. That clip is part of a larger interview about Vinylmation we will include in Destination Vinylmation Podcast Episode 3 to be released Sunday.

What do you do for a living?

Maybe there will be a Vinylmation soon just for you! Here are pics of the upcoming Teacher and Computer Vinylmations for the Occupations series. You get the 3" and one of three mystery juniors in each box. There are 3 different juniors to collect for every different 3".

Let It Snow, man

Its hard to build one of these in Orlando or Anaheim, but we can buy the Vinylmation.... soon hopefully. Holiday #2 Reindeer comes out November 19th, lets hope Disney releases Mr. and Mrs. Snowman soon.

Nerds Rock!

Oh, as a nerd I can relate to these... I can't wait for Donald! We saw Chip and Dale at Trade City, but this is our first 3D look at my favorite duck.

New 9" Park 5 Figure Pics!

M.C. played detective and turned the Dreamfinder/Figment box around to snap these for us:

Here is an up close of the new Fantasia 9"

Let's head over to Toon Town for a ride on Goofy's Barnstomer.

Post your comments on what you think this 9" Park 5 Vinylmation depicts.

You've Been Punked!

M.C. Visited Festival of the Masters today and brought us back some great pics! Here are 3 of the upcoming Steampunk series Vinylmations... including M.C.'s favorite, the clock gears piece that comes with the pocket watch.

A New Thing to Trade!

It was teased at Trade City this year, and now it's come true!

Now at the Florida D- Street store there is a clear box where you can trade Vinylmation Jrs!

We were at the Festival of the Masters today and we will soon be posting more photos and a new Podcast about our visit, but we couldn't wait to announce this new fun feature to you. So far it's only been seen at the D-street story in Downtown Disney, but hopefully it will be expanding soon. One note: trading is the same as 3" clear box trading, the only caveat is that your Vinylmation Jr need to have the metal keyring-ish clip on top. I'd you got one from the Sports or Oh! Mickey collections that doesn't have that feature, you can not trade.

Look back here later tonight for more photos.

Keep collecting!

The rest of the band!

Well okay, maybe not the rest of the band, but today Disney's Vinylmation Blog posted some new photos of upcoming Vinylmations. As I asked for last week when they announced Sam the Eagle (I'm going to just assume they read this blog); Disney has shown us another member of the Electric Mayhem- Janice from the Muppets Two collection. (Now if they would just release Animal, Dr. Teeth, Floyd and Zoot!)

They also revealed a Mushroom and Caterpillar from Cutesters Too, and Donald Duck from the Nerds Rock collection. I'm glad Cutesters Too won't all be the Kids in Costumes, like we saw at Trade City. I think I perfer not having people, who aren't specific characters, on vinylmation and just using the body as a canvas for artwork.

Also shown were a Walt Disney World 40th Anniversary piece, as well as a 9" showing the Matterhorn for some unannounced series that they stress is way in the "future".

Check out the rest of their blog post, dated November 8th, at: eventservices.disney.go.com/static/vinylmation/blog.html

Also of note: These photos were released to thank the community for their following of the new Disney Vinylmation Facebook page at facebook.com/Vinylmation. If you have Facebook you should follow them so they can reward us further.

2 Years of Vinylmation!

Happy 2 Years Vinylmation! Everyone else seems to have started the celebration early, but we here at Destination Vinylmation waited til the baking was done and the day was correct before wishing you a happy 3rd year. We've only been collecting for 6 months, but we love you all the same.

So as a special treat we baked everyone a treat! Even our vinylmation got in on the party. (Statue of Liberty Minnie lit the candles!)

Ice Cool!!!

Here is an up close look at the Ice Cube tray exclusive 3" Vinylmation. It's is like a Clear Vinylmation with a frosty look to it. And two eyes, a nose and a mouth visible on the head. I would say I can't wait to freeze up some Vinylmation shaped ice cubes and sip a cold drink while adding him to my collection, but it's cold at WDW today! Hot chocolate for me... just hope Ice Cube Mickey doesn't melt.
