Update: Tomy, or @Vinylmati0n on twitter, lives in Japan and has a Vinylmation blog. He just posted some HQ pictures of the Japan Girls Festival Vinylmation along with some photos of the shelves at the stores.
An eBay seller located in Japan (tokyo-old-new-jp) just pre-sold a new pair of Vinylmation.
They are said to be released on December 26 in Japan. At first, they appear to have a flocking or other texture, but a look at some other angles shows this may not be true.
According to Wikipedia: The Japanese Doll Festival, or Girls' Day, is held on March 3. Platforms covered with a red carpet are used to display a set of ornamental dolls representing the Emperor, Empress, attendants, and musicians in traditional court dress of the Heian period.
The eBay seller who listed these items also seems to sell other Vinylmation and items out of Japan if you are interested.
